Wynn Diamond Suites Renamed Encore at Wynn Macau

Buried in an earnings release from Wynn Resorts was teeny tiny mention that the Wynn Macau luxury tower (construction photos) known as Wynn Diamond Suites, will now be called Encore at Wynn Macau.

This is a pretty smart move to unify their brand identities. Having every tower at this that and the other property with the name-du-jour dilutes product understanding by tourists like us. Additionally, the Encore at Wynn Macau will feature similar interior designs as Encore Suites at Wynn Las Vegas. Conversely, Encore Suites at Wynn Las Vegas are going to use the same casino design - smaller, more intimate gaming 'parlors' demarcated by pillars and other ambient signifiers - as Wynn Macau. It's an evolutionary mix and match situation.

Encore at Wynn Macau is scheduled to open in the first half of 2010 and will cost US$600M to build.

I'm hoping to have some kind of update on the Wynn Cotai project, pending posting of the earnings call rebroadcast. Hopefully, one of the analysts on the call had the forethought to inquire about the 'No New Casinos' announcement and how that will affect the proposed Wynn Cotai project.

Steve Wynn is a regular guest on The Strip Podcast and is a bit looser lipped than normal - if that were even possible. Unfortunately, their discussion is primarily Vegas, which is only 60% of the picture, at least in terms of rolling chip volume. Which makes me wonder if Mr. Wynn would be interested in spending 20 minutes with us talking about Macau. Whaddya say Steve? I know for a fact there are bunch of Wynn Resorts people who read MacauTripping...

Don't make me beg, cause I will.

Speaking of chit-chat, it's been two weeks since I emailed Galaxy Entertainments media relations contact and they've still yet to respond. Maybe they should think about replacing their obviously inept media relations team.
