Crown Macau softly opened on May 12, 2007 to much fanfare and some complaints. After a 2 1/2 year construction process and many cost overruns, Crown Macau opened, but with many restaurants, guest suites and a portion of its casino unfinished. When all was said and done, Crown Macau cost $586 million dollars to build.

Crown Macau changed its name to Altira in 2009 (or is about to).

Crown Macau features a 36 story hotel tower that is in all senses a luxury hotel. Room rates at Crown Macau run approximately $350-500 per night during the week and much more on the busy weekends. Crown Macau has 216 deluxe hotel rooms, 24 elegantly appointed suites and eight private villas reserved for the highest of the high rollers.
