History of Far East Consortium Complex
Not much is known about the Far East Consortium Project to be built on the western end of the Cotai Strip. The Far East Consortium (FEC) is sub-licensee of the Venetian Macao, which means that they are at Venetian's knees for land as well as approval for their project. Early stage construction is beginning to stir, but we do not have any architectural renderings. The project is expected to open in 2008, but that probably isn't likely.
It is rumored that the Venetian has strong armed a 50% stake in the FEC project.
The total projected cost for the Dorsett/Far East Consortium project is expected to be approximately $700 million dollars.
How are the rooms at Far East Consortium Complex?
According to a stock market analyst report, Far East Consortium is planning to build five hotels, a casino, retail promenade and time-share apartments on their site. The five hotels mentioned in the project are Dorsett Hotel (672 rooms), Holiday Inn (609 rooms), Inter-Continental Hotel (418 rooms), Cosmopolitan Hotel (576) and a 1,000 room hotel that caters specifically to their convention center.
